I'm seeing cute little Forest Friend Pin Cushions popping up all over the internet . It is such a huge thrill for me to see you all enjoying this and I know that Amy and Gigi are just as excited to see their creations being so enjoyed.
I owe a huge thank you to Gigi who has done the impossible for me this month. I had planned on sending out a different kit to the one that you will be receiving this month. The best laid plans and all that went astray and many of the bits and pieces for kit number two are still not here so I have had to do some hair pulling re-organising with the order of the kits. Gigi has come to the rescue though and worked her fingers to the bone making all the pintoppers for the new second kit. That all makes sense in my mind, but things have been a little crazy here lately.
I also owe a huge thank you to the designer (who I will name once you have started receiving your kits so I don't spoil the surprise) whose pin cushion will be the October pin cushion for sending through the patterns earlier than planned.
With the second kit due to be posted out next week (just waiting on the postie to deliver the pins to me) it means you only have a few more days to send me a post card and enter the giveaway. I have so enjoyed receiving these and visiting the blogs with postcards you all live in such beautiful places - keeping sending them in.
So far I've had post cards from:

And because I love pictures on blogs (even my own) here is a photograph of our lodgers. It is school holidays here in South Australia and last Friday I brought two boxes of these home from school.

Yep, Silk Worms. We now have three boxes and I'm starting to have nightmares of silk worms taking over the house. The poor mulberry tree has only just started getting leaves and let me tell you it is a full time job keeping them fed. I am so glad that Rachel's teacher gave the other boxes she had to other classrooms.
So has anyone ever done more than let them cocoon and hatch and lay eggs? Have you actually done something with the cocoons? Is it possible for the children to actually weave the silk or is that too hard? At the end of last term I spent time in Rachel's class helping the children sew calico shopping bags and I would love for them to see the silk worms right through to a finished sewn product. Any suggestions?
