I made two journals as samples for the Quilt and Craft Fair back in November. The one on the left is from Janelle Wind's Thelma's Day Out pattern and the second Mardi's Garden from her Journal Secrets pattern.
They are both easy and quick to make. Vanessa and Rachel loved them and asked whether I could make one for each of their teachers as Christmas gifts. Of course I left them to the last minute and spent Wednesday and Thursday nights sewing until late but they were finished in time.
I am not good at making the same thing twice, I'd never be able to work on a production line, so gave them both a little twist.
This one was for Vanessa's teacher and although I used an A4 notebook rather than an A5 it is based on the Thelma's Day Out Journal. I quilted it and stitched the belt on at the buckle rather than putting the belt keepers on.
I'm not sure which is my favourite as they were both such fun to make.

This next one is for Rachel's teacher. Rachel especially requested this fabric for her teacher. Once again I quilted but this time I made the back cover flap over the front and closed with a magnetic snap.

Photos of the second one are not so good - it was taken Friday morning before we left for to school. It was raining. Definitely not going to complain about bad conditions for photography. It was fabulous to see the rain and to have it continue most of the day. I only hope that all the cereal farmers had finished stripping and that they could enjoy it too.
