More eye candy

The beautiful things arrving for the shop just don't stop. Quilt Fabric Delights now has both Sew Pretty Homestyle and Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle by Tone Finnanger - Tilda   in stock.   We only have a limited number so if you miss out, just drop me an email and I can order more in.

They're beautiful books and together with reading (actually only really looking the pictures) this blog and this blog I can't decide whether I want to up and move to somewhere in Scandanavia or just refurnish my home.  Maybe when I find a money tree I can do both.  A summer house in Scandanavia and a newly decorated one here now that sounds like an idea!

You know I think I have a problem, every time a new pattern, fabric, book arrives for the shop my mental list of I want to make grows and in the end I spend so much time thinking about what I would like to do next I procrastinate and don't actually get much made.  Having said that though, I do get a great deal of joy out of the planning and sometimes that is enough to refresh the spirit.  On the nights that I have no energy left there is nothing nicer than sitting down with a beautiful craft book and dream of what might be.  I guess it is a bit like planning a holiday - you know sometimes the planning, thinking and imagining yourself enjoying your holiday is just as much fun.  Or is that just me?

Handmade

I received the latest Handmade recently (Volume 25 No 10) and right there on the front cover is my sister Susan's quilt.  Congratulations Susan I am so proud of you.

If you would like to make this quilt we still have a bit of the red fabric available.  I'd also be happy to kit it up for you - just email me.

Today I received a copy of the latest Patchwork & Stitching and in the Next Issue section is a photograph of another of Susan's quilts a cute pastel nursery rhyme quilt with gorgeous embroidery - so look out for Patchwork & Stitching Vol 8 No 11.

Gift - Rosalie Quinlan Designs

Rosalie Quinlan's beautiful book Gift is now available in the shop.  As many of you will know Rosalie is a breast cancer survivor and together with Creative Abundance will be donating 50c from the sale of this book to Pink Ribbon Day.

Yesterday saw the sad passing of the courageous Jane McGrath.  My heart goes out to her family and friends and to all those who are fighting this terrible disease. 

Please take care of yourselves, make the most of  your gift of life and if you can, support these two worthy causes so that one day no one will have to lose this fight.

Cute gets cuter

Isn't she cute? 

Yes, but you are meant to be looking at the apron.  Rachel has been waiting for this apron for a long time.  She arrived home from school just as I finished topstiching and Garry had just finish baking those yummy sticky scrolls.

And now for the cuter.  A bit more sewing and a change of uniform and she was ready for afternoon tea.

What a difference a few frills make.  The pattern is from the book Little Retro Aprons by Taylor Made Designs, the fabrics are China Doll by Michael Miller and Red Spot Blue  from A Day in the Country.

And because she has seen me stage photographs for advertising we had to take one with the matching umbrella her Auntie bought her back from Vietnam.

A grey gloomy day and a flat battery don't make for a great photo but that smile certainly lights it up.

In good company

Last week involved much stalking of the postie while I waited for my issue of Handmade to arrive.  First I was tipped off by the lovely Fiona that her copy had arrived and then the equally lovely Jhoanna let me know that she had received her copy.  So why was I so interested in this particular issue - because in this issue there are two of my projects and an interview with me! 

My copy finally arrived Friday.  Woo hoo!  I am honoured to be featured in such a wonderful magazine as Handmade.  Copies should be available in the newsagents on the 26th October.

I haven't taken photographs yet so go over to Fiona's and have a look see there.  Make sure you also visit Jhoanna at One Red Robin to congratulate her and see her Cheery Chimp.
