December is a busy month for birthdays in our household. Not satisfied with one child born in December we managed it twice. So yesterday was birthday party number one.
Happy 8th Birthday Rachel.
Last week I was sick and was wondering whether the party would have to be cancelled but my wonderful sister stepped in as crowd control. Just joking they didn't really need crowd control but I lost my voice during the week so she came over to help with games . She did a wonderful job with a dozen 7 and 8 year old girls and will be back next weekend to help with the 11 year olds girls. Not only that she went all over Adelaide looking for musk lifesavers so we could make fairy teacups. If you are looking for a fun project to keep your children occupied over the holidays I can highly recommend these.
You'll need:
- 1 Packet Tick Tock biscuits - for the uninitiated these are small iced biscuits with a clock face on the other side
- 1 packet marshmellows
- freckles (not sure how this translates for our USA friends - chocolate buttons covered in hundreds and thousands
- musk lifesavers
- small amount icing (icing sugar and water mix is fine)
you need to cut the lifesavers in half to make the handles - and then just assemble them with a little dab of icing as glue.

and you too should have a happy little fairy princess

And just in case they haven't had enough sugar -what about smiley faces.
Vanessa turns 11 next week - and woo hoo she wants the same food but she wants to be able to make them. That's one less game to think of and it should keep them entertained for a bit too.
Something I have learned over the last 11 years is that the birthday girl would far rather party food and birthday cake that she has been able to make than any perfect looking cake. Phew, that takes the pressure off because to be honest, cake decorating is not one of my strong points.
